I haven't always been an artist. After art college I turned to "normal" jobs: 8 years in corporate London then 20 years as a health practitioner, chasing someone else's dreams thinking they were my own and pushing my creative yearnings down deep. I eventually burned out of the clinic work - and it finally hit me that when you burn out it's because you're not doing the thing you should be doing. I felt unhappy, out of alignment, exhausted and so defeated. It was at this point I realised I didn't have a choice anymore.
Art was my calling, my life purpose and I simply HAD to find my way back in.
I tentatively stepped back into making art. Gently to start, building up to exhibiting and as my confidence grew so did my practice. During this period I started to explore what really ignited me, what drew me back in time and time again and how I might keep that feeling of excitement alive. I started to understand that in order to build a sustainable art business that would support my goals and dreams, I needed to find another way of doing things. Winging it wasn't working for me anymore. I needed solid, repeatable processes that kept me connected and engaged with my art and offered an almost endless source of inspiration.
I knew that if I didn't fully dig in to find the steps for recovering my joy, I might end up back there again. So I spent a few years getting really clear on what I really wanted, how I wanted to be doing it and, most importantly, what worked for me.

As long as you want it! There is no set time to work through the content, you can do it at your own pace and if you need to take a break it will be there waiting for you when you get back!

Meet Your Tutor
The last few years have been a period of huge transformation for Natalie. During this time she’s fully consolidated her art practice, reflecting deeply and developing exciting projects and collaborations.
In spring 2023 Natalie had her first major solo show 'This Land' at the Royal Cornwall Museum which debuted her journey into natural earth pigments and writing about her beloved Cornwall landscape.
She is now a full-time artist living and working in Cornwall, painting in her Bude studio and teaching at the St Ives School of Painting as well as running her own classes locally. In spring 2025 she opened Teyr Fine Art gallery in Bude, north Cornwall, with local artist Hannah Wheeler.
